Fallout From Korle-Bu Rumpus

Prof. Otu Nartey EXPOSED!
By Newman Dotse
Professor Nii Otu Nartey’s call for the privatization of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital clearly demonstrates his lack of aptitude to manage the hospital to the satisfaction of the people of Ghana.
He clearly showed that he is intentionally running the hospital into a ditch to pave way for the professed privatization plan.
Government must make sure the hospital is provided with better managers if the current management lacks what it takes to develop the hospital and is now scheming to have it privatized.
We cannot continue to resort to privatization anytime an institution fails to provide good leadership as it were in the case of the CEO of Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Professor Nii Otu Nartey.
Is Professor Otu Nartey saying Korle-Bu Hospital renders free services to the people? I believe he should rather think of innovative ways of raising funds to keep the hospital running instead of trying to create the impression that Korle-Bu Hospital can only stand if privatized.
Korle-Bu Hospital, one of Ghana’s teaching hospitals is not an institution that could be privatized owing to its importance to medical students, hence if Professor Otu Nartey wants to have it privatized, then he should start wheedling the President to consider privatizing the government than conspiring to run Korle-Bu down in a bid to force the government to resort to privatization as a possible option.
If Professor Nartey admits that government pays the salaries of the staff at the facility and that payment for services are made from the NHIS coffers, then what happens to the money accrued from services rendered to patients?
How does the hospital calculate its loss without making any investment when the hospital actually depends on the government for everything?
Professor Nii Otu Nartey lacks managerial acumen, hence needs special orientation in the area of management before he runs the entire hospital into the gutter for lack of aptitude to manage a state institution like Korle-Bu Hospital.
People who have the tendency of running state property down and turning round to blame their failure on trivial issues must not be allowed to go near state properties; and Professor Otu Nartey is obviously one of such people.
By calling for the privatization of Korle-Bu Hospital, he is telling the people of Ghana who are his employers that he is incompetent and that he has no solution to the problem and that he can only squander the hospital’s cash after which he will turn to the government for more.
