Family of late Dr Limann calls for prayers on first anniversary

Accra (Greater Accra), 22 Jan. '99 -

The family of the late Dr. Hilla Limann, President of the Third Republic, yesterday appealed to the Muslim and Christian Councils, as well as the Catholic Secretariat to declare days of national prayers on the occasion of the first anniversary of his death on Saturday, January 23.

A non-denominational service would be held at the Ridge church on that day for family members and friends in remembrance of the late president.

A statement issued in Accra and signed for the family by Dr Issah Egala, said the widow of Dr. Limann, Mrs Fulera Limann, has in a letter expressed the family's gratitude to the three religious bodies for the immense support they have provided them since the husband's death.

She expressed her appreciation for the ''overwhelming turn-out for her husband's funeral and the continuing goodwill that friends, well-wishers and patriotic Ghanaians have provided the family since they were robbed of their father and leader.''

The statement added: ''Our father and leader worked tirelessly for a free and democratic nation'', and on the occasion of his first anniversary, ''we wish this dear nation, peace, tranquillity and prosperity.''
