Fanteakwa civic union embark on revenue mobilization for assembly

Begoro, Nov. 5, GNA - The Fanteakwa District Civic Union, a non-governmental organization committed towards education of the people to know their civic responsibilities and the District Assembly has embarked

on an education campaign to expand the revenue base of the assembly. Speaking to Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Begoro on Friday after meeting drivers and market women, the Chairman of the Civic Union , Mr. Kwame Amfo-Antiri said the Union has planned to sensitize the people to live up to their civic responsibilities and pay outstanding taxes before the end of the year.

He said the Union has set aside one month to end the campaign by visiting market centres in the district on market days. Mr. Amfo-Antiri commended Ghana Accountability Improves Trust (GAIT) for providing the union with two megaphones and a quantity of dry cell batteries.

He also commended the Fanteakwa District Assembly for releasing one of the assembly's vehicles to the Union to facilitate the exercise. Mr Ampofo-Antiri said the Union would soon form sanitation committees in all the towns to ensure hygienic practices in the district.
