Farmer accidentally kills a woman

Kumasi, April 28, GNA - A 57-year-old farmer at Tetrefu near Sewua in the Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma District, Isaac Akwasi Amoah, has been arraigned before a Kumasi Circuit Court on a provisional charge of murder.

His plea was not taken and was remanded to re-appear on May 19. Police Chief Inspector Regina Kesewaah told the court that the accused went to his farm on April 21, carrying a loaded locally manufactured shotgun.

Whilst there Madam Abena Nkrumah, a farmer, requested that he should sharpen her cutlass for her. The accused placed the gun on a palm tree for support as he began sharpening the woman's cutlass.

Midway through, Amoah saw the weapon slip and in an attempt to save it from falling his hand accidentally pressed the trigger and it went off hitting Madam Nkrumah in the abdomen.

She died while being conveyed to the hospital.
