Farmer appeals for upgrading of Mpasatia SECTEC

Mpasatia (Ash), July 12, GNA - A farmer has appealed to the government to consider the inclusion of Mpasatia Secondary/Technical School in the programme to upgrade at least one second cycle school in every district into a model school.

Nana Kwame Nwam, the District Chief Farmer, told the GNA in an interview that, the school ''holds a lot of promise and must be helped to become one of the best schools in the country.'' He said the chiefs and people of the Mpasatia, together with the Parent-Teacher-Association (PTA) and the district assembly, had provided it with some infrastructure.

''The government's intervention, through the upgrading programme, would be needed to complement what had so far been done.'' Nana Nwam cautioned against the temptation of concentrating all attention and development activities on the district capitals. "I think we have to be fair and ensure parity in the distribution of national resources and development infrastructure".

He praised the Headmaster and staff of the school for the good work they were doing that had inspired many parents to send their wards there.

The school has a student population of about 800, a figure that is said to be the highest for all second cycle schools in the district.
