Farmer appear in court for stealing

Nkawie (Ash), Oct 22, GNA - The Nkawie circuit court last Tuesday granted a 28-year-old farmer from Gyankobaa near Nkawie five million-cedis bail for stealing three mini-bags of ginger valued at 300,000 cedis.

Kofi Nsiah pleaded not guilty and will re-appear on October 26. Police Chief Inspector Ben Antwi told the court that on September 20, Madam Abena Nyarko who sells ginger, bought four mini-bags of ginger and marked them with red colour. She left the ginger on the farm where she bought them with the intention of conveying them the next day to Kumasi for sale. Chief Inspector Antwi said when she went to the farm the next day to convey the ginger she discovered that they had been stolen. The prosecution said the complainant went to Kumasi and on reaching the Kejetia lorry terminal found the stolen ginger with one Adwoa Boakyewaa who was preparing to sell them.

Chief Inspector Antwi said Madam Nyarko confronted Boakyewaa and this resulted in an exchange of words and so they returned to Gyankobaa to resolve the matter. At Gyankobaa, he said it was realized that Nsiah sold the ginger to the mother of Boakyewaa and a report was made to the police and he was arrested.
