Tepa (Ash), March 16, GNA - David Masimah, alias Kwasi Mahama, 60, a farmer and a retired watchman of Produce Buying Company (PBC) has been arrest and placed in Police custody for slashing his two sons and a brother-in-law with a cutlass at Kyekyewere near Tepa in the Ashanti Region.
The two children, Ben Mahama, 14, a primary five pupil of the Kyekyewere Primary School, Kwame Dapaa, 18, an apprentice Mason at Tepa and the brother-in-law Seidu Sandoo, 40, a farmer at Kwakukrom near Asankragua in the Western Region are responding to treatment at the Tepa District Hospital.
According to an eyewitness Madam Amma Kusase, the wife of the suspect, Kwabena Dapaa allegedly stole an amount of 500,000 cedis belonging to his father at Kyekyewere and run away to his uncle, Seidu Sandoo when he got to know that the father had reported the case to the Police.
Sandoo, according to Madam Amma Kusase accompanied Kwabena Dapaa to Kyekyewere last Thursday to discuss the matter with his brother-in-law but in the course of the discussion, there was misunderstanding between them and the suspect took a cutlass and slashed the victims. Kwame Dapaa confirmed stealing the 500,000 but said he used the amount to purchase some tools for his apprenticeship.
The suspect on the other hand told newsmen that Kwame Dapaa stole 1.5 million cedis out his pension money of three million cedis he had collected from the Bank, adding that, he used the cutlass for self-defence when the three victims tried to assault him.
