Farmer jailed 10 years for defiling 12 years girl

Mpraeso (ER), Jan. 20, GNA - Ibrahim Musa, a 28-year-old farmer was on Tuesday convicted on his own plea of guilty to 10 years imprisonment by the Mpraeso Circuit Court for defiling a 12-year-old girl. Police Chief Inspector Alex Gyamera Acheampong, prosecuting, told the court presided over by Justice Alex Owusu Ofori that on January 7, 2009 at 1800 hours the victim's mother sent her to buy some items for her at Kwahu Jejeti.

He said on her way to buy the items, the victim met Musah, who gave her 40 Ghana pesewas to also purchase Kenkey for him. The prosecutor said after bringing the food to the convict, he lured the girl into his bedroom and sexually assaulted her and forced her to spend the night with him.

The following morning the victim's mother informed members of the town's unit committee about the disappearance of her daughter. Police Inspector Acheampong said while the mother and members of the unit committee were searching for the girl, the victim heard her mother crying so she rushed out from the room to meet her. She then narrated her ordeal to the mother and a report was later made to the police where Musa was arrested and charged with the offence. Passing sentence, the court described Musa as a wicked person who should not be allowed to stay in the society.
