Asamankese, Nov 5, GNA- The Asamankese Circuit Court presided over by Mr Kofi Akrowiah has remanded in prison custody, Kofi Oppong, a farmer for stealing a spraying machine and 11 fowls valued at 70 Ghana cedis belonging to another farmer.

Oppong who pleaded not guilty will re-appear on November 12. Prosecuting, Police Inspector F.A. Cobbina told the court that the complainant, Frank Nusetor lived at Kade and the accused lived at Adankruno but they shared a common farm boundary at Bosombo near Adankrono.

He said Nusetor reared fowls at his cottage.

On October 17, 2007, Oppong taking advantage of Nusetor's absence from the cottage broke into a room and stole a spraying machine and the fowls.

The Prosecutor said the accused took the machine into his cottage and hid it in the bush about 20 metres away. On October 18, 2007, the complainant and his wife went to their cottage to find the spraying machine and the fowls missing. The following day, the complainant and his brother started their own investigations and found the machine hidden in the Oppong's cottage and when he was confronted, he took to his heels but was chased and arrested.

He admitted having stolen the machine and was handed over to the police where he admitted stealing the machine and only five but not 11 fowls.
