Father Williams inducted Anglican Archdeacon of Saltpond

Saltpond July 9, GNA - The Very Reverend Father Emmanuel Entsi Williams was on Sunday inducted into office as the Archdeacon and Parish Priest of the Saltpond Anglican Church.

Father Williams, who was ordained a Priest 28 years ago and was the former Dean of the Anglican Diocese of Cape Coast, replaced the Very Reverend Francis Koomson who had been transferred to Cape Coast. The Right Reverend Daniel Sylvanus Adotei Allotey, Bishop of Cape Coast who performed the function at the SS Peter and Paul Church at Saltpond urged congregations to live in peace with Priests and to cooperate with them in the discharge of their work. He noted that as men chosen from the people, Priests were fallible and said anytime they fell to temptation they should be treated with compassion to enable them to regain their confidence to avoid more mistakes.

"Always pray for Priests in their calling", he said and quoted from the Gospel that "any one who rejected a Priest will also be rejected by God".

Father Williams assured the congregation that he was to serve and not to Lord it over them and urged the congregation to co-operate with him to win more souls for Christ.

Mr. Alfred Wilfred Nkrumah, People's Warden assured him of the readiness of the congregation to work with him to raise the image of the Church. "I can assure you that you will enjoy the cooperation your predecessor enjoyed", he stated.

A large number of Church members from Cape Coast and other stations attended the service.
