Drivers who ply the Madina Ritz Junction road constantly have been left with the extra task of maneuvering their way through the traffic at the intersection for well over two months since the traffic lights broke down.

According to some residents and drivers Ghanaweb spoke to, although Police officers come to the site during the morning rush hour to direct traffic, they are usually gone by 7PM leaving the drivers to their fate.

During this period drivers heading towards Adenta, Dodowa, Aburi, Agbogba, Ashale Botwe, Legon and environs have to practically ‘fight’ their way through the congestion at the intersection.

Some residents noted that a number of road accidents have occurred during the two-month period; pedestrians have also been run over by speeding vehicles.

Some drivers however had different concerns. They averred that, the Police intervention in controlling the traffic was rather worsening the situation since they tend to miscalculate; keeping cars in a particular direction in traffic for quite a long time.

Many of the hawkers also noted that their businesses had been adversely affected as they were unable to sell their wares without having to worry about their safety.
