Faustina Nelson Defends Kwesi Botchwey

Firebrand woman politician, Madam Faustina Nelson has been forced to go public due to what she terms “blatant lies” perpetuated by elements within the NDC, who claim vehicles belonging to the Verandah Boys and Girls club are being used by Dr Kwesi Botchwey’s campaign team. “It’s yet another episode of the smear campaign ahead of another NDC congress”, she said.

A group calling itself the Kotobabi Victory Youth Club alleged at a press conference that 10 vehicles belonging to the Verandah Boys and Girls Club have been sprayed white and are currently being used by the campaign team of Dr Kwesi Botchwey, one of the candidates for the NDC’s presidential primaries slated for 21st December.

But Faustina Nelson who is the Chairperson of the Verandah Boys and Girls Club has described the allegations as false. She explained that the NDC set up a task force to retrieve all vehicles including those belonging to the Veranda Boys and Girls after the party’s defeat in the 2000 elections.

The Independent newspaper says its investigations confirmed that vehicles belonging to the Club were handed over to one William Aggrey. The paper says the National Executive Council of the party has sold vehicles belonging to the Ashanti, Brong Ahafo, Western and Greater Accra Regional branches of the club. The vehicle allocated to the Central Region is being used by the party’s Women’s Organiser – Frances Essiam while that of the other regions are all in the regional poll of the party.
