Fear grips NDC over government’s DRIP equipment for MMDAs

The Minority in Parliament The Minority in Parliament

The minority NDC in Parliament appears to have been hit by the overwhelming endorsement the government has received across the country following President Akufo-Addo's commissioning of the District Road Improvement Project (DRIP) on Wednesday in Accra.

The government has explained that the equipment is to facilitate the rehabilitation of bad roads in every district by their respective MMDAs.

The DRIP equipment includes a 6 x 4 tipper truck, water tank truck, wheel loader, motor grader and roller.

Following the commissioning of the equipment and the plaudits the government is receiving, the NDC has started questioning the source of funding.

Mahama Ayariga, NDC MP for Bawku Central, on the instructions of the Minority Leader, wrote to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development asking for the source of funding and how much each equipment cost.

Despite the letter admitting it was aware Parliament approved funds for the acquisition of the equipment, the Minority still requests cost analysis as well as payment schedule for the equipment.
