President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is expected to address the nation tonight, 3news.com can confirm.
He is expected to give an update on the measures put in place by his government in the fight against coronavirus since the easing of some of the restrictions.
A tweet by Minister of Information Kojo Oppong Nkrumah in answer to a query by a follower also confirms this.
The last time President Akufo-Addo addressed the nation was on Sunday, May 31 at 10:00pm, when he announced a “phased approach” to easing of the restrictions imposed on the country on Sunday, March 15.
He increased the number of gatherers from 25 to 100, allowing “abridged formats” of religious services.
It was his Update Number 10.
Then, Ghana’s total Covid-19 cases stood at 8,070 with 2,947 recoveries. The deaths were 36, leaving the country with 5,087 of active cases.
Since then, 15 persons have lost their lives, 3,352 new cases have been recorded and 1,209 persons recovered.
The address by the president, then, was to announce Stage One of the process of easing the restrictions.
Sunday night’s address is expected to announce Stage Two of the process.
