Field ‘incompetent’ Alidu and forget about Asawasi seat – Manaf warns NPP Executives

Suspended New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary aspirant at Asawase constituency in the Ashanti region, Manaf Ibrahim, has warned that the party will lose the Asawasi seat in 2020 if the party field “incompetent” Alidu Seidu again.

He said the Asokore-Mampong Municipal Chief Executive whose incompetence was confirmed during recent research by UNICEF which placed his performance at the bottom of the 216-league table, has no chance of wrestling the seat from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) with abysmal performance.

The Regional Executive Committee of the NPP has suspended Manaf Ibrahim, Director of Political Affairs at the Presidency, for violating the party rules and regulations and showing disrespect to the Committee of the party by allowing his supporters to insult them, a case, he had denied.

But Manaf in reaction accused the Regional Executives of taking ‘bribe’ from his Alidu to prevent him from contesting in the upcoming parliamentary primaries at Asawase Constituency, for the fear that he (Manaf) will win convincingly.

In an interview with otecfmghana.com on Tuesday, August 20, 2019, Manaf his suspension from the party will cause the party’s parliamentary defeat in 2020 as his supporters, who are majority in the constituency, have all vowed not to vote if he is allowed to contest in the primaries.

“The party is not ready to annex the seat if they present Alidu because Alidu has shown his incompetence when he was adjourned last among the 216 MMDECs ratings, a case that that makes him ‘loser’ even before the elections,” Manaf emphasized.

“If the party wants to know who can win the seat, they should allow me to contest Alidu in the parliamentary primaries. I know Asawasi more than Alidu who just joined the party in 2014, Alidu has no ability to capture the seat,” he added.

Asked if he will assist Alidu to secure the seat in 2020, he said: “they have suspended me from the party indefinitely, meaning my services are no longer needed, including my faithful supporters.”
