John Mahama, the Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has vowed to launch a strong fight against corruption in his next government if he wins the December 7 presidential election.

According to the former president, under his leadership, anti-corruption institutions will be empowered to operate effectively and independently.

Addressing a gathering of the clergy in Accra on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, Mahama stated that no one found guilty of corrupt activities would be spared.

"We will launch a strong anti-corruption fight and give anti-corruption institutions unfettered space to do their work. We will launch Operation Recover All the Loot (ORAL) to investigate, prosecute, and recover the proceeds of corruption. No person found culpable will be spared. Let me add, the sword of accountability will cut both ways, targeting both past and present governments."

"We will establish a state assets registry to record all state assets, both movable and immovable, including lands, and prohibit government officials from purchasing state assets. We will introduce new legislation to streamline government scholarships and ban political appointees from accessing government scholarships for their wards," Mahama added.

Mahama’s ORAL plan is a robust initiative that comes at a critical time, as public demand for ethical leadership and fiscal responsibility continues to grow.

Operation Recover All Loot aims to track down and reclaim assets that have been illicitly acquired, ensuring that those who have misappropriated public funds are held accountable for their actions.

By establishing a dedicated task force, the initiative seeks to investigate past misdeeds and recover stolen resources that rightfully belong to the Ghanaian people. Mahama’s announcement has sparked nationwide conversations, highlighting the urgent need for systemic reforms to restore public trust in institutions.

The initiative not only emphasizes accountability but also serves as a clarion call for citizens to join the fight against corruption.
