Acting Minister of Transport and Member of Parliament for Ketu South in the Volta Region, Mr. Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey yesterday snubbed the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament to prepare the grounds for President Mahama’s 'Accounting to the Peoples' Tour in the Volta Region, which starts today.
Members of PAC including the vice chairman of the committee, Mr. Atta Akyea on Monday during the Committee's sitting expressed grave displeasure about the Minister’s failure to avail himself before the august House to answer questions on Auditor-General Report for 2011, 2012 and 2013.
The Ketu South legislator, who is the Agriculture Minister, had informed members of the committee that he would not be present because of an official assignment outside the country.
Vice chairman Atta Akyea however appeared not too happy when the Deputy Transport Minister Madam Joyce Hawa Muntari opined that the substantive Minister was actually in the country but was in the Volta Region preparing grounds for President Mahama who is expected in the region in less than 24 hours to begin his 'Accounting to the People Tour'.
When further interrogated, the Deputy Minister reiterated that to the best of her knowledge, her Minister was in the Volta Region and not outside the jurisdiction of Ghana.
