Despite numerous complains of poor officiating and alleged cheating in the Ghana Premier League and the GN Bank Division One League, Referee Eric Dunu and his assistants Christopher Kporxua, Joshua Anane and Hayford Adehe (4th official) have been praised by Fijai Real United fans despite losing at home to BYF Academy.
The home side was pinned to a painful 3-2 defeat by the strong Bekwai-based side at the Essipon Sports Stadium in Takoradi in the week 9 of the GN Bank DOL.
In an usual turn of events, the home fans lauded the referee for his fairness and professionalism despite suffering defeat at home.
"The referees were fair," a fan who identified himself as Kojo said.
"If referees will continue like this, our game will develop. They did not handle the game like the other team (BYF Academy) were playing an away game. They did well," he added.
"They were fair. I only think they played more than the normal duration in the second half when we (Fijai) were down by 3-1. But I think that was home advantage. Apart from that, they were great," Ampofo, another fan also noted.
Referee Dunu and his team of officials were equally lauded when they professionally handled an MTN FA Cup clash between Vision FC and Charity FC at Amrahia a few weeks ago.
The rate at which match officials are being lauded of late will enhance the development of the game if indeed they keep up with their good show.
