Just two and a half months ago, a container was installed at the Ghana Police barracks, beneath the police headquarters, to serve as a waste disposal point for the residents.
This container was meant to aid in rubbish collection within the barracks, which are situated in the upscale area of Cantonments, Accra.
Regrettably, the container has malfunctioned, calling for the prompt intervention of a Zoomlion vehicle to remove the accumulating waste. However, the Zoomlion operators have discontinued their services due to financial constraints and the malfunctioning of their vehicles.
Consequently, the rubbish has overrun the grounds within the barracks, yet no immediate cleanup has been undertaken by any of the commanding officers.
The police headquarters, located in close proximity to the barracks, is frequented daily by both senior and junior officers. Despite being cognizant of the situation, they have yet to take any measures.
