NPP CALLS ON PRESIDENT MILLS TO REMOVE DEPUTY MINISTER FOR INTERIOR MR. KWABENA ACHEAMPONG

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) calls on President Mills to remove Mr. Kwabena Acheampong from the position of Deputy Minister of State.

Mr. Acheampong’s insulting behavior, rudeness and arrogance does not befit the high position of Deputy Minister and is a disgrace to governance in our country.

In the run-up to the 2008 elections, Mr. Acheampong’s insulting behavior, rudeness and arrogance as a political activist directly led to his removal as a lecturer in Communication Studies at The African University College of Communications.

Mr. Acheampong in recent times has insulted and denigrated residents of Kumasi and the countryside, by his “infamous” “cocoase kurasenii” outburst.

Mr. Acheampong again, just last week, unprovoked, has described the NPP Flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo, as an untidy person and a fruitcake (mad).

Mr. Acheampong’s outburst and insults directly makes nonsense of President Mills’ constant admonition against the politics of insults.

It also threatens to throw political discourse in our country into free for all denigrations and insults.

The NPP believes our political discourse and governance should be spared the indecency that the likes of Mr. Acheampong represent. Hence this call on President Mills to foster decency in our political discourse by relieving Mr. Acheampong of his post as Deputy Minister. ENDS
