Ho, Sept. 25, GNA- Fire gutted one of the dormitories at the St Joseph's House of the OLA Secondary School in Ho on Friday night, destroying all the property of the 16 students occupying the dormitory. When the Ghana News Agency (GNA) got to the scene at about 0845 hours on Saturday, the floor of the dormitory was littered with charred pieces of wood, books, dresses, brands of cosmetics and provisions. The ceiling, roof, window frames, wooden and metal beds and mattresses were also destroyed.
Mrs Anastasia Kukanu, Assistant Headmistress, Administration, who took newsmen round said the cause of the fire was still being investigated and that precautionary measures had been taken to ensure the safety of the students.
She said a fresh student Miss Jemima Manyra-Addo who reported about two hours earlier lost her belongings.
Mrs Kukanu said some members of the public with the help of the National Fire Service personnel helped to put off the fire. She said four students who escaped from the fire were treated for slight injuries and are doing well.
She said moves were being made to supply fresh school uniforms and house dresses to the affected students who were putting up in other dormitories.
