The First Lady, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo, has through her Foundation, made available assorted items in support of the operation of the Accra Psychiatric Hospital.
These included detergents, toiletries, buckets, food items and drinks.
Mrs. Akosua Newman, Director of Operations of the “Rebecca Foundation”, handed them over to the facility on her behalf at a ceremony.
Giving to charity, has become an annual ritual – done every year, on the occasion of the “Mother’s Day” celebration.
Mrs. Newman said the donation was the First Lady’s goodwill gesture “as the mother of the nation” to patients at the hospital and to wish them well.
A Senior Staff of the facility, Madam Regina Appiah, received the items and said they were grateful to Mrs. Akufo-Addo.
It was the first time the female ward was directly benefiting from the First Lady’s humanitarian support.
“We are very much aware of the great things you are doing in favour of mothers and children. So this is no surprise to us at all”, she added.
