Aflao, June 20, GNA - A comment suggesting that a group of fishermen attending a wake keeping at Xedranawo near Denu in the Ketu District last Saturday, behaved like "unsophisticated coastal lads" has led to a fight and the stabbing to death of Atsu Ewia, 27, fisherman. The deceased hailed from Keta but was resident at Denu. Mr Baba Moro, Assistant Superintendent of Police in charge Crime of at Aflao, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that Ewia, who was in the company of three others claimed to have heard the comment coming from a group of young men.
He said a confrontation and a fight ensued between Ewia and a Christopher Afedido.
Mr Moro said Ewia was said to have had the upper hand, when they were separated.
He said while Ewia and his friends were on their way back to Denu, Christopher's group ambushed them leading to another fight. Mr Moro said during the fight, which Ewia again appeared to be winning, Pauluvi Afedido, Christopher's brother pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the chest leading to his death.
He said Pauluvi and the six others then absconded and were being sought by the Police while Ewia's body had been sent to Korle Bu Teaching Hospital for autopsy.
