Five people die through poisoned water

Tatale, June 26, Three farmers and two school children died on a farm at Tatale in the Northern Region, after drinking water suspected to have been poisoned on Saturday (June 20). The deceased farmers are Nagulisibi Tibrum 30, Kwesi Addai 27, Malsin Tiwapral, 25 and Pado Ata 18, and Kwame Atta 15 of the Tatale District Assembly Primary School. The bodies have been deposited at the Yendi mortuary.

The farm owner Atta Tidagibi was however referred from the Tatale Health Centre to Tamale Central Hospital where he is responding to treatment.

Mr Kofi Waja brother of Tidagibi told newsmen at Tatali that the victims drank the water after a yam meal.

He said on that fateful day Atta Tidagibi engaged the three farmers and his two children to work on the farm. Mr Waja said after they ate the food and drank the water they started having serious stomach pains and cried for help. He said nearby farmers who were attracted to the scene rushed to find the five people dead.

The deceased persons were rushed to the local health centre. Meanwhile the Police had taken samples of the water and yam for investigations.
