Fix Eastern Region roads or face our wrath – Group warns gov’t

Mass Action for Development (MAFOD) a newly formed pressure group in the Eastern Region has given President John Dramani Mahama a 10– day ultimatum to fix the deplorable major roads in the region or face their wrath.

This has come barely three months after the regional House of Chief led by its President, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin and other chiefs in the region inspected some of the deplorable roads in the region.

Addressing the media, the group said roads in the region have become death traps, making life extremely difficult for residents and drivers who ply the roads from their various places to do their day to day errands to feed their families and love ones.

The Convener of the group, Kingsley Ofosu Ntiamoah indicated that the John Dramani Mahama – led government has "woefully neglected" Eastern Region for a very long time and that they will be forced to stage a massive demonstration to protest against the sorry state of the Eastern Regional roads and that until they see that work is ongoing they will never stop the demonstration.

“Pregnant women are also dying and so if we don’t see any improvement in our roads, then we will embark on a massive demonstration and we will make sure to sustain it till the right thing is done,” he warned.

“The President is behaving as though we the people in the Eastern region are not part of the country, our roads are very poor to the extent that residents always find it very difficult to ply on the roads to do their businesses,” he said.
