Boakye Agyarko, a key figure of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has emphasized that the Flagstaff House, seat of government, is not a quarry where a lot of strength is required.
According to him, experience, knowledge and brains are required in a person that would be elected as Ghana’s president to steer the affairs of the state.
He has therefore warned those who are making the unwarranted noise that old people could not manage the affairs of the country to quickly stop talking.
Speaking at a party function in Kumasi, Dr. Agyarko challenged the assertion by activists of the ruling National Democratic Congress that Nana Akufo-Addo is too old to become Ghana’s next president.
He stated emphatically that Nana Addo has the experience and knowledge to become the ideal president that Ghanaians are craving for.
Dr. Agyarko said if the Flagstaff House were a stone quarry, then stoutly-built men would be elected as presidents to live there.
He reiterated that the president of the state requires deep knowledge and brains to move the country forward, “and not scary muscles.”
Governance, he pointed out, is not a child’s play, noting that Nana Akufo-Addo had over the years gathered enough experience to become a better president.
The top NPP man entreated the NPP delegates that would be casting their ballots in the party’s special delegates’ congress to vote massively for Nana Addo, the 2012 presidential aspirant of the party.
Dr. Agyarko said he was expecting the NPP delegates to vote 100% for Nana to show that the NPP means business, ahead of the 2016 polls.
He lamented the economic quandary which has beset the country, stressing that Ghana needs Nana Akufo-Addo as president to save it from its misery.
According to him, Nana could not be faulted in any facet of life, stressing that Ghana needs a clean person like him as president.
