Flashback: Queen's Vist to Ghana

Ghana's stable environment is admired by many in the West. The country's leading role in West Africa has not gone unnoticed and over the past 15 years, economic and political reforms have made the country attractive to many. The UK and Ghana have excellent relations, with frequent inward and outward visits, and good working co-operation on, amongst
other things, governance reform, health and education development, and the fight against corruption and drugs.

The Queen of England has made personal visits to Ghana during the rule of first President Dr Nkrumah and also during the rule of former President Dr J J Rawlings.

Today, current President Kufuor begins a three day visit to the UK as the guest of the Queen.

The royal visit coincides with the bicentenary of the 1807 Slave Trade Act, which abolished the slave trade in the British Empire. The following are some of the pictures during the Queen's visit to Ghana.
