The Deputy Minister of Finance, Stephen Amoah, has cracked up Members of Parliament and the Speaker of Parliament after he used the word ‘Floccinaucinihilipilification’ in the House.

Stephen Amoah was contributing to the report presented to Parliament regarding the Songor Salt Mining undertaking by Electrochem Ghana Limited.

In calling on MPs not to politicize the report and also incite the youth against the state, he said:

“All these exercises are being conducted in ‘Floccinaucinihilipilification’ (meaning a worthless exercise), and it is not going to yield any expected results that will benefit the country, as all natural resources belong to the state.”

Members of Parliament could not help cracking up in their seats while Speaker of Parliament urged him to explain the meaning of the word, to which he did.

Stephen Amoah was empathizing with the people of Ada but admonished that they should not be incited against the government.

Dr. Stephen Amoah also stated that any company given a license to mine in the area should be compelled to integrate the welfare of the people of Ada by providing job opportunities for them.
