Flower Pot Interchange: Watch as Titus Glover dismantles wooden structures of some 'recalcitrant traders'

The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover, has dismantled some wooden structures belonging to hawkers at the newly-commissioned Flower Pot Interchange, following his stern warning that no kiosks, containers, or unauthorised structures should be set up near the intersection after the commissioning on Tuesday, November 19, 2024.

However, some 'recalcitrant traders' returned shortly after the inauguration, resuming operations in full force despite the regional minister's stern directive.

In a viral video circulating on social media, Titus is seen dismantling wooden structures used by hawkers to sell their goods.

Addressing the gathering at the commissioning ceremony, Titus Glover urged the Ledzokuku and Ayawaso West Municipal Assemblies to ensure the interchange remains clean and free from unauthorised structures.

He emphasised that such structures would tarnish the beauty of the edifice and appealed for collaboration between the municipalities to enforce law and order in the area.

“I don’t want to see kiosks, and the chief executives should listen to me. We don’t want kiosks and containers littered all over here. It will destroy the beauty of this edifice that we are commissioning today,” he stated, adding that preserving the infrastructure is essential for unlocking the area’s full potential.

The Flower Pot Interchange, constructed by China Railway Engineering Ghana, features an 802-meter dual carriageway and a modern overpass at the Spintex Road Flower Pot roundabout.

The project aims to alleviate traffic congestion in high-density zones such as Cantonments, Burma Camp, East Legon, and Spintex, significantly cutting travel times and enhancing connectivity.
