On Monday, October 14, 2024, tragedy struck at Kasoa in the Central Region when a controlled blasting of rocks resulted in a fatal explosion that claimed multiple lives.

Following the incident, a viral video on social media has provided an insight into how the explosion occurred.

The video, sighted by GhanaWeb, shows the exact moment the blast — conducted by contractors working on the construction of the Winneba Road project — sent debris flying across the area, leading to instant screams of panic and chaos.

The resulting impact of the explosion left properties, including homes, destroyed while dozens sustained varying degrees of injury.

According to the Administrator of St. Gregory Hospital, where some of the victims were taken for medical attention, three of the victims were pronounced dead.
