Being one of the most daring fields to pursue, Ghanaian youth have been urged to be smart in their choices and to keep focus in order to achieve their entrepreneurship goals and achieve success.
Chancellor of GH Media School, Dr. Kofi Osei-Kusi, speaking at the 2nd edition of the ‘Change Africa Summit’ under the theme; “The Archetype Change from Job Seeking to Job Creation” explained that focus on a particular goal at one point in time is the key to crossing hurdles in the business world and making it as an entrepreneur.
Chasing several ideas in the quest to become rich or successful according to him, is the least way one can make it he says; finding the right idea however and throwing one’s weight behind it to see it through till the end is one sure way to get to the top.
“Have you met millionaires before? They are not kidding people. Smart, sharp, intelligent and I’m going to give you a few tips because entrepreneurship is one of the most difficult things I’ve found in this world. How do you get the right idea because it’s not about ideas, it’s about having the right kind of idea, that idea that can change your life because you may have like 30 ideas but which one should you pursue, which one should you throw your life after?"
"If you have 30 things and you are chasing 30 birds, you’re not going to catch any of them, you must focus on one or two and hit it right hard", he noted.
He also urged young entrepreneurs to be keen on identifying their sole purpose in life and work towards it.
“It’s about finding your purpose. Success is always related to your purpose…you are designed and fashioned for an assignment. You are tall for a reason, you are short for a reason, you are short because your business idea requires a short person to do it….you are who you are because your business idea, your purpose, your assignment requires that kind of person to do it and so identify the right idea, you must identify your purpose in life”.
Reading was not left out of the key factors Dr. Osei-Kusi cited as critical in the life of an entrepreneur seeking to make it in the business world.
“Great people stand on books to reach higher in life”, he said.
The 2nd edition of the ‘Change Africa Summit’ came off Friday April 20, 2018 at the Chartered Institute of Bankers (CIB) in Accra.
