Kintampo (B/A), Oct. 23, GNA - Large quantities of foodstuffs are locked up in some communities in Kintampo District due to the poor and deplorable state of the roads, as drivers are unwilling to ply the roads to convey the produce to marketing centres.
The most affected communities are Bonkye, Congo, Nkyinadee, Edikese, Kyirimako, Wataahye, Aberewanko and Kwankor, all inhabited by settler farmers from the Northern regions.
Madam Alice Forkuo, Organiser of the Kintampo District Cooperative Yam Producers and Marketers Society Limited told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Kintampo that the current rains had battered the roads making it difficult for drivers to ply them.
According to Madam Forkuo, some bridges on the roads had been over flooded and the people were unable to cross them from their settlements and to other places and that unless the rains subsided the farmers could not convey their produce to the market at Kintampo.
