Ford saga: Akomfrah, Ernesto Yeboah not cleared - CPP

The CPP has denied reports suggesting that its disciplinary committee has exonerated its suspended general Secretary and National Youth Organiser.

A statement released by the Disciplinary Committee of the Nkrumahist party Friday night said Nii Armah Akomfrah and Ernesto Yeboah have been set free because no formal charges have been brought against them despite invitation for such.

“That due to the absence of charges before the committee, it is the finding of the committee that the Respondents were not given any chance to know beforehand the charges levelled against them. This is clearly in breach of Article 114(e) of the party constitution which reads as follows; “A person referred to the DC shall be given adequate time to prepare his/her answer to the charges..." the statement said.

However, a counter statement signed by the special aide to the chairman Edmund Delle said “it is untruth that the Disciplinary Committee headed by Snr. Comrade Kwaw Ansah has cleared both the interdicted General Secretary and Youth Organizer. The disciplinary committee does not have such powers. Th disciplinary committee is mandated to report back to the central committee. Indeed the central committee had a report today but rejected it stating that; the disciplinary committee rushed to start work without the charge sheet from the legal affairs committee. The question asked by CC was that; on what charge did they worked with? It was concluded that the DC go back to do a diligent work and report back”.

The two executives were suspended for openly criticizing President John Mahama for accepting a ford gift from a Burkinabe contractor who won a contract in Ghana.
