Foreign Minister deplores cases of violence in run-off

Ejisu (Ash), Dec.28, GNA - Mr Akwasi Osei-Agyei, Minister of Foreign Affairs has deplored isolated cases of disorder characterizing the presidential run-off. Speaking to a section of the media at Ejisu, where he toured some polling stations, he expressed dissatisfaction about incidents of general disorder and confusion such as snatching of ballot boxes and the creation of scenes of confusion at some polling stations. He said such incidents had the potential to mar the beauty of the otherwise peaceful run-off.

Mr Osei-Agyei called on perpetrators to desist from such acts since the whole international community looked to the nation as the beacon of hope. Meanwhile, the Ejisu police had arrested three in connection with causing mayhem at various polling stations. The three who were alleged to have been moving from one polling station to another to observe voting without any form of accreditation attempted to disrupt voting by unnecessarily engaging the attention of the electoral officials.
