Forestry Commission gets new head

Accra, Feb. 27, GNA - President John Agyekum Kufuor, on the advice of the Forestry Commission and in consultation with the Public Services Commission, has appointed Professor Nii Ashie Kotey as the new Chief Executive of the Forestry Commission.

A statement issued in Accra on Wednesday said prior to his appointment, Prof. Ashie Kotey was the Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Ghana and the Acting Director of the Ghana School of Law. Prof. Ashie Kotey has a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Ghana, Masters of Law and PhD from the University of London. The statement said he is a specialist in forestry, natural resources and Environmental Law and for 20 years had been associated with the forestry sector consulting and researching in the area of forest policy, law and management.

The President has also appointed Nana Kofi Adu Nsiah, Business Planning Manager of the Wildlife Division as the Executive Director of the Wildlife Division of the Commission.

Nana Nsiah holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resources Management from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), and Master of Science degree in Land ecology from International Institute for Space and Earth Science, the Netherlands, and Executive MBA from Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).
