Forklift operator and four others steal forklift

Tema, July 28, GNA - A forklift operator and four others have been granted 500 million cedis bail for stealing a forklift valued at 35 million dollars by the Tema Circuit Court 'A'.

Mohammed Koranteng, (forklift operator) Samuel Ademyoh, watchman, Ayamba Razak, and Gordorgu, both security men, pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy and stealing and will re-appear on August 8.

Joseph Boakye Yiadom, a shopkeeper, also pleaded not guilty to a charge of dishonestly receiving and was granted 500 million cedis bail.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Adolphus Otchere told the court that on June 26, the complainant reported the theft of his forklift truck to the Community One police.

The forklift was traced to a fitting shop where it was being sprayed and when the sprayer was questioned he mentioned Yiadom as the one who brought it there.

Yiadom admitted having sent the forklift there for spraying. He said Koranteng together with Ademyoh, one Mba and George now at large brought the truck to him.

Inspector Otchere said on June 26, Koranteng and the others drove the forklift to Yiadom's house, where they bargained with him (Yiadom) and settled on 25 million cedis.

Yiadom gave them a part-payment of 15 million cedis and asked that they come back in two weeks' time for the rest of the money. 28 July, 04
