Kumasi, March 30, GNA - Former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, has conveyed a message of gratitude on behalf of her family to the people of Kumasi for their support and encouragement when fire swept through their Accra Ridge residence.
She said the family is appreciative of the goodwill shown to them by the people of Kumasi.
The solidarity and inspiring messages they received from individuals and groups saw them through their most difficult and trying moments. Nana Konadu, who is the first National Vice Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), was addressing the Ewe Community in the Ashanti Region at Anloga in Kumasi.
She is on a seven-day political outreach programme to the region and has been meeting with members of the NDC and identifiable women groups in the party.
The former First Lady called for cooperation and unity among the various ethnic groups to give the nation the peace to develop. Nana Konadu advised women to avail themselves of government programmes designed to train and empower them economically. Tobge Mawufeame Fugah, Head of the Ewe Community in Ashanti, thanked Nana Konadu for the visit.
He pledged the Ewe community's determination to live peacefully with all ethnic groups to foster social harmony. 30 March 10
