Former MCE in critical condition after robbers shot his eye

A former Municipal Chief Executive of Ashaiman in the Greater Accra Region is battling for his life at the hospital, after he was attacked and shot by armed robbers Wednesday evening.

Mr. Ibrahim Baidoo is said to be in critical condition at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital where he has been transferred to for intensive care.

According to the police, the robbers numbering about 3 also succeeded in snatching his blue-black Chrysler saloon car with registration number GN 2015-16. He was about entering his house at Community 22 in Tema around 7:45pm, A.S.P Juliana Obeng the Tema Regional Police PRO said in a statement. “The M.C.E who was on his way from a meeting in Tema involving some N.D.C party representatives and some activists from 5 constituencies including Ashaiman and Katamanso was shot beneath his right eye, when he was entering his house at Community 22 in Tema.”

The suspected armed men were on a motor bike with locally made pistols when they launched the attack, the police said. The Tema Regional Police Command has launched investigations into the robbery attack on the former M.C.E. The police has therefore appealed to the general public to furnish the command with “accurate and timely” information that will lead to the arrest of the suspects.
