The remains of the late former Mayor of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) Barima Akwasi Agyeman popularly known as ‘Okumkom’ was on Monday, 24 February 2020 laid to rest at the Breman Royal Mausoleum in Kumasi in the Ashanti region.

Okumkom, a royal at the Manhyia Palace was also a Deputy Minister for Environment in the PNDC Administration of former President Jerry John Rawlings and later a Special Envoy.

The Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II sat in state to exchanged pleasantries with those who came to mourn with him.

Present at the burial ceremony were all the three living former presidents, Jerry John Rawlings, John Agyekum Kufuor and John Dramani Mahama.

The Vice Presidnet Dr Mahamudu Bawumia was also present to pay his last respect.

Okumkom died on 14 January 2020 at Kumasi.
