Nawuley (W/R) May 21, GNA - Burial took place at the Nawuley public cemetery on Friday of the late Mr Ernest Ellia Beyelah, former District Chief Executive (DCE) of Jomoro and his mother, Madam Cecelia Nerme Mokua. Mr Beyelah was 66 while his mother was 86. The mother collapsed and died a few weeks after hearing about the death of her son, Mr Beyelah, who was her bread winner. Mr Beyelah was appointed DCE for Jomoro in 1992, when he was a tutor at the Half Assini Senior High School.
On leaving office in 1997, he returned to the Ghana Education Service and became the head teacher of the Nawuley Junior High School. He was elected assembly member for Nawuley, his hometown for two-terms and became the Assistant Director at the Jomoro District Education Service. He retired in 2005. He died at the Eikwe Catholic Hospital on April 15 after a short illness. The late DCE left behind three children a wife.
Among the large number of people who attended the burial were executives and members of the National Democratic Congress in the Jomoro Constituency, former and serving assembly members of the Jomoro District Assembly and functionaries of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the Convention Peoples' Party (CPP) in the constituency. Also present were Mr Sylvester Nuamah Dadieh, nominee for the Jomoro District Chief Executive position, Mr Ehwi Armah, Presiding Member of the District Assembly, heads of Department and some chiefs of the area.
