Former Regional Minister elected as Vice President of CAPAM, UK

Former Central Regional Minister, Dr. Nana Ato Arthur, has been elected as Vice President of the Commonwealth Association for Public Administration and Management (CAPAM), in the United Kingdom.

At its first meeting in January 2019, he was unanimously elected for CAPAM in the United Kingdom (UK). This makes the Head of Local Government Service the first Ghanaian Citizen to occupy the position.

During the October 2018 biennial CAPAM conference in Guyana, Dr. Nana Ato Arthur was elected to serve as a member of Board of Directors of the Commonwealth Association for Public Administration and Management (CAPAM) from 2018 to 2020.

He expressed his gratitude to President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo and Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as well as other government officials for their support during the election.

Ing. Dr Nana Ato Arthur is a professional Engineer, Development Planner and an expert in governance and public policy with over 20 years’ experience. Currently, Dr Nana Ato Arthur is the Head of the Local Government Service (OHLGS), Ghana. Prior to his current position, he served as a Member of Parliament in the 6th Parliament of Ghana (Jan 2013-Jan 2017).

From May 2001 to April 2005, he served as the District Chief Executive of the then KEEA District Assembly, Elmina; and the Vice President of the National Association of Local Authorities of Ghana (NALAG). Then from May 2005 to January 2006, he was the Deputy Central Regional Minister and later became the substantive Central Regional Minister from May 2006 to January 2009. Hon. Ing. Dr. Nana Ato Arthur is one of the leading experts on decentralization and local governance in Ghana. He holds a PhD in Development studies.
