Kojo Frempong, the 2014 Television Host of the Year in Ghana, on Thursday earned a Master of Public Administration degree from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

The former host of Viasat One’s lifestyle show ‘Boys Boys’ and TV 3’s Sports Station has been off the screens for some time now and seems to headed in a different direction in his public career. His last known TV job was at TV Africa where he hosted the Ghana Tonight Show, a political analysis program and also served as the Chief Operations Officer of the television station.

“This period at Harvard University has been really humbling,” Kojo Frempong said, adding that “It has been a whirlwind of learning, building capacities in management, finance and problem solving as well as being part of an amazing ‘Class of 2019’ with some of the smartest people in the world. It has really been a humbling experience.”

“The challenge,” he continued “will be adapting our knowledge and skill sets to help deliver solutions necessary to improve the lives of Ghanaians. I was fortunate enough to serve at the Ministry of Business Development under Dr. Awal Mohammed and I pray that in all humility, God will enhance our ability to even do more for Ghanaians.”

It sure does not look like Kojo Frempong will be coming back to the screen any time soon even though he insisted that he has ideas for several shows.

“Don’t count me out yet. There are many concepts for TV shows that keep popping up however they compete with other huge considerations on my mind. At present, I am extremely thankful to President Nana Akufo Addo for his vision for Ghana. When he came here for the Africa Development Conference at Harvard, His message was crystal clear. Africa needs to radically shift her approach to development because the dependence on aid has failed us. We need to see Africa Beyond Aid and Ghana must lead this change. This vision imposes on Ghanaians the responsibility to affect change and I pray for grace to be part of this exciting endeavor. So maybe I should find my level before returning to TV but don’t count me out yet.”

Kojo Frempong has a long association radio and television having worked for Skyy Power Fm in Takoradi, Joy Fm, TV 3 and Viasat 1 TV. He won awards as both a sport journalist and lifestyle presenter and was named the best TV show Host in 2014 and 2015 at the Radio and Television Awards.
