Forum held to discuss falling standard of education

Ayerede (B/A) Sept. 28, GNA- A forum has been held at Ayerede in Nkoranza District to discuss the falling standard of education in the area.

This followed a complaint by the community leaders to the district education directorate that students of the Roman Catholic Primary and Junior Secondary School performed below expectation.

The District Directorate organized the forum in collaboration with other stakeholders in the district.

It was observed at the forum that some parents had shirked their responsibilities towards their children and this had forced the children to engage in farming activities for money to fend for themselves.

The forum charged the Unit Committee, to spearhead a campaign to address the problem.

Addressing the forum, Mr Agyeman-Badu emphasized the need for parents to invest in their children's education.

He urged parents to be very mindful of their children's movements and correct them when they went wrong. Mr James Edjei Biney, District GNAT Secretary appealed to the people to live in harmony and co-operate with the teachers to improve the standard of education in the area.

He urged them to pay regular visits to schools to interact with the teachers to know problems facing them.
