Capt Anthony Cudjoe (rtd), the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Chief Executive, has appealed to people to keep their environment and communities clean.
“Clean environment promotes good health which is necessary if the country is to develop”, he said when he cut the sod for work to begin on the construction of a water factory by the Water Health Ghana Limited, a water purification company in partnership with Coca Cola Limited.
Earlier, Mr. Ekow Blankson, vice president of Water Health Ghana Limited and Madam Ama Bawuah, Cmmunication and Public Affairs Manager of Coca Cola had cut the sod for work to start on a similar facility at Anaji.
Capt Cudjoe caution people in communities where water factories would be constructed to make sure that they did not pollute the clean water produced by the facilities.
Mr. Blankson said the company would train local people on the management of the facility.
Mad Bawuah said Coca Cola was financing the construction of 17 water factories in the country with four of them at Anaji, East Tanokrom, Sekondi Zongo and Apowa in the Western Region.
She said the cost of a water factory is between $95,000 and $150,000 depending on the location.
