Four family members die in a motor accident

Nkawkaw, June 06, GNA - Four family members from Duayaw Nkwanta in the Brong Ahafo Region were killed when the vehicle on which they were travelling was involved in an accident at the outskirts of Fodoa near Nkawkaw last Friday.

Two of them died on the spot while the other two died later at the Nkawkaw Holy Family Hospital.

Briefing the GNA, Chief Superintendent of Police, Paul Awuni, Nkawkaw Divisional Police Commander, said the deceased were identified as Kwame Oppong Kumi 32, Stephen Kwaku Gyasi 31, the driver, Joyce Asabia Ameyaw 31 and Adwoa Oforiwaa three-and-a-half years old. He said William Siaw 32 and another passenger identified only as Kwabena, a-three-and-a-half years boy, were referred to Komfo Anokye Teaching hospital in Kumasi for further treatment while Mercy Boahemaa 32, Mercy Sefa 32, and Christabel, an eight month baby were on admission at the Nkawkaw Holy Family Hospital, Chief Superintendent Awuni said at about 2150 hours on June 1, the vehicle which was travelling from Accra to Duayaw Nkwanta with the occupants to attend a funeral skidded off the road when it was negotiating a sharp curve, run into a ditch and somersaulted several times before hitting a palm tree.

He said the injured were responding to treatment. 06 June 07
