Four persons are feared dead as boat carrying seven young men capsized on the Volta lake while traveling from Agbega Porpornya to a neighboring community in Upper Manya Krobo in Eastern Region.
According to sources, three of the seven passengers survived the incident.
Two of the survivors are currently receiving medical attention at the Asesewa Government Hospital.
Unfortunately, four individuals remain missing. A search and recovery operation is underway, led by the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), with support from local volunteers.
Many have died over the years in similar accidents on the Volta Lake.
The unavailability of life jackets for members of the community living along the lake continues to put the lives of many including women and children who sail on the lake at risk.
