Police in Zuarungu in the Upper East region are on the heels of some four remand prisoners who broke cell Sunday Night.

It is unclear the circumstances under which the suspects escaped but Starr News’ Upper East regional correspondent Edward Adeti reports that the cell is not fortified enough.

According to him, the development has thrown the community into a state of fear as the suspects are known to be hardened criminals.

“It happened overnight and the entire community and the police are looking for them.

“I am personally not surprised because there are massive cracks in the walls of the cell so it appears quite easy for anyone who is intended to break it and escape,” Adeti reported.

He added that the police station is strangely located in a marshy area where finding escapees appear almost impossible.
