Fourteen drivers convicted for traffic offences

Kintampo (B/A), Jan. 16, GNA - A magistrate court at Kintampo presided by Mr. James Kugblenu on Tuesday imposed fines totalling GH Cedis 8,640 on 14 commercial drivers for committing motor traffic offences between January 6 and January 11 this year. Assistant Superintendent of Police Ansu Frimpong, Commander of Brong-Ahafo Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Union, told newsmen on Tuesday that Nahama Ousman was fined GH Cedis 600 and would serve six months in prison in hard labour in default for failing to stop when ordered by the police whilst Abukari Mohammed was ordered to pay similar amount or serve six months in prison for over speeding, failing to stop and driving a motor vehicle without a license.

Isaac Anokye was convicted to serve three months imprisonment for failing to produce a driving license but fined GH Cedis 720 for over speeding and failing to stop, whilst Mohammed Wanzam was slapped with a GH cedis 600 fine or serve six months imprisonment for over speeding. Ebenezer Akrofi was sentenced to a GH Cedis 720 fine or six months in prison for failing to stop and Alhassan Alidu was fined GH 600 for over speeding or go to prison for three months. Aziz Yusif was fined GH cedis 600 or serve six months in prison for failing to stop, while Yaw Owusu who drove without a road worthy certificate was ordered to pay a fine of GH cedis 600 or in default serve three months in prison.

Evans Yeboah was fined GH Cedis 600 for failing to stop or serve three months imprisonment, Abubakar Salifu was fined GH cedis 1,200 or a year's imprisonment in hard labour for over speeding, failing to stop and driving without a road worthy certificate. The court ordered Ousman Salim to pay a fine of GH Cedis 600 or in default serve three months imprisonment in hard labour for driving a vehicle not authorized by his class of driving licence and failing to pay vehicle income tax, Kwabena Yeboah for over speeding was fined GH Cedis 600 in default serve six months in prison and Solomon Nyamedoh who was fined GH Cedis 600 or in default serve six months in lard labour for over speeding.
