After successful National Policy Summits (NPS) on the Economy, Trade and Industry, Assessing the Growth, Jobs and Prosperity Agenda of the country, the Ministry of Information has launched the fourth edition to evaluate the progress on government’s developmental projects.

The two-day event will be from September 24 to 25, 2018 at the University of Development Studies International Conference Centre, Tamale.

Keynote address will be done by the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, on the first day.

The National Policy Summit (NPS), which is a public-private initiative has been described as major initiative of the Ministry of Information.

It serves as a platform for government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to engage stakeholders as well as economic actors in government flagship operations.

With this year’s themed “Assessing Government Flagship Programmes; The Journey So Far”, Information Minister Designate, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, stated that the meeting is an opportunity for government to explain the level it has reached in terms of delivery and get feedback from stakeholders.

The current government has had many Ghanaians express their dissatisfaction on how the Akufo-Addo-led administration is running the country while describing it as the worst ever in country’s history.

According to Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, government is aware about the many questions on the minds of citizens when it comes to the implementation of projects, hence the need for discussions to make headway.

Topics for discussion will include; Free Senior High School programme and Double track system as well as the Technical and vocation training programmes, One District One Factory, One Village One Dam, National Health Insurance, and financing SMEs.

“Ministers of state responsible for the various programmes will engage directly with stakeholders in Tamale and provide a status report on where we are on these flagship programmes.” He indicated.

Mr. Oppong Nkrumah stressed that the dialogue is part of government’s effort to make itself “available and to be accountable to the people in whose name and whose behalf we work, this fourth NOS is dedicated solely to our flagship programme and providing a status report on the progress.”

The Minister, therefore, called on interested stakeholders to get involved and assist in questioning policy makers on their latest development.
