The French government has expressed confidence in Ghana's economy, saying it will encourage more investment in the country's economy.
The French Prime Minister, Mario Valls said this in an interview with the press, shortly on arrival at the Jubilee Lounge in Accra.
Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur and some government officials, were there to welcome him. The French Prime Minister is on a two day state visit to Ghana.
French investment in Ghana’s economy currently stands at more than one billion dollars. The figure is expected to double in view of Ghana's continuous stable democracy, rule of law, and the prevailing peace.
The visit by Prime Minister, Mario Valls is a follow up to President Mahama's two time meeting with President Francois Hollande in Paris last year and this year.
In those meetings, France agreed to provide Ghana with 35.7 million euros through its Agency for International Development for the financing of the second phase of the Kumasi roads and drainage extension project.
Prime Minister Valls said Ghana has become an ally of France judging from their co-operation on many international issues, commitment and their shared common values.
As part of his itinerary, Prime Minister Valls held bilateral talks with President Mahama at the Flagstaff House and also visited the Touton Cocoa Factory in Tema.

He said that France through its Agency for international development is committed to the bilateral relations with Ghana.
The visit by the French prime Minister is a follow up of those visits and will therefore go a long to cement the bilateral relations between the two countries. The French Prime Minister said Ghana's critical role at the UN is also another basis for the increased cordial relations between Ghana and France.
He said France see Ghana as a reliable ally on issues of international importance, citing Ghana's immense role during the COP 21 in Paris recently. Mr Valls said Africa is a rising continent and that is why France wants to invest in the continent. That is the reason why it has moved from the relations it has with it colonies on the continent and spreading its cooperation with both Portuguese and English speaking African countries.
